If you are an individual, public institution, non-entrepreneurial (non-commercial) legal entity, branch of a legal entity, foreign enterprise, or individual entrepreneur with an annual turnover of less than 500,000 GEL, you may receive a warning or a fine ranging from 1,000 GEL to 5,000 GEL for violating legal requirements set by the Law of Georgia “On Personal Data Protection”. In cases of multiple violations, the fine may increase to 10,000 GEL. 

If your annual turnover exceeds 500,000 GEL, the fine may increase proportionally, reaching up to 20,000 GEL (for multiple violations), depending on the nature of the violation. 

Possible reasons for fines include:

  • Violating rules regarding video and audio surveillance;
  • Failure to protect data security;
  • Non-compliance with obligations related to the appointment of a personal data protection officer, and etc.

It’s important to note that individuals can be held accountable for an administrative offense no later than 4 months from the date of committing the offense. If the offense is ongoing, this timeframe extends to no later than 4 months from the date of its discovery.
